PRE-NUPTIAL AGREEMENTS ARE NOW LAW IN AUSTRALIA
At last pre-nuptial agreements are recognised as being legally binding in Australia. This is good news for many who would not normally be fairly treated by the law if such an agreement were not in place. Such agreements are particularly useful for farmers and others who inherit family property which is normally handed down from generation to generation. Farmers are now in a position to implement a legally binding contract with an intended spouse in order to safeguard the property and business which will be brought to the marriage by the man.
In all instances where such an agreement is to be prepared we recommend that it be properly drawn up by a solicitor who is expert in the area - leave nothing to chance. Remember that close to fifty percent of marriages end up in divorce. We strongly advise all men entering a permanent relationship to insist upon a properly prepared pre-nuptial agreement which will give as much protection as possible under the law in the event of the relationship failing.
Remember if she is not prepared to sign such an agreement there must be a hidden agenda.
